‘Safe Chemicals Act’ Gets Reintroduced in U.S. Senate
In an effort to protect Americans from exposure to toxic chemicals and reform the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) of 1976, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), along with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), reintroduced last month the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011.
Common carpet chemical poised to get CREL
The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has recommended a Chronic Reference Exposure Level (CREL) for caprolactam, a chemical used widely in the manufacture of carpets, rugs, textiles, and food packaging.
